Trudy Carmichael
(Portrayed by Robin Rothman)
Trudy made her first NYC stage appearance in the Las Vegas-inspired musical improv revue, The Royal Flushes at The Upright Citizens Brigade in 2005 and has continued to perform in both improv comedy and cabaret venues around NYC before landing a permanent gig at the Magnet Theater as the host of the Musical Magnet Mixer in 2009 for The First Annual New York Musical Improv Festival.
In addition to hosting the Magnet Musical Mixer, she has served as Mistress of Ceremonies for a variety of private and charitable events including Covenant House International, Upper West Side Campaign Against Hunger, and The Lesbian & Gay Big Apple Corps Marching Band, and Big Top Productions (UK)..
Ms. Carmichael can be seen frequenting any number of NYC Cabaret venues such as The Duplex Cabaret Theater, Sid Gold's Request Room, Don't Tell Mama's, The Slipper Room, and Birdland. She proudly garnered the titles of First Runner-Up in The New York Soul Sensation Competition at New World Stages and First Place winner of The Cabaret Showdown and The Cabaret Showdown All-Stars at the Kraine Theater.
Trudy's latest triumph, was her tour to Scotland for the 75th Annual Edinburgh Festival Fringe, earning raves from audiences and critics alike!

Jammin' Joel
(Portrayed by Joel Esher)
Joel Esher is a musical theatre composer and lyricist living in New York City. He a member of the BMI-Lehman Engel Musical Theater Advanced Writing Program. His musical, PharmaBro (with Lauren Gundrum) garnered national attention, culminating in a self-produced run at the Player's Theater as part of the Player's Theater self-production residency. He is one of nine collaborating composers on Folk Wandering, which premiered through Pipeline Theater. His TYA Musicals, Sammy Spider and Bagels From Benny enjoyed NYC productions at 92Y. His short musical, Superhots! is a featured musical in TheaterNow's Ten-Minute Musical Anthology (MTI). His musical Noplace (With Gregory Van Acker and Montse Olmos) received developmental support through the Goodspeed/Johnny Mercer Writer's Colony in February 2020.
Joel is a passionate master teaching artist and music educator, with multi-year partnerships with Disney Theatrical Group, The Metropolitan Opera Guild, Trinity Wall Street, The Dreamyard Project, The Little Orchestra Society, and others. He is the New York regional Music Supervisor of The Story Pirates and a regular songwriting contributor to their podcast.
Joel is a graduate of Northwestern University, where he received a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Music Direction.
Shane Taymor
(Portrayed by Sean Taylor)
Sean is a writer, storyteller, actor, producer, host, and Co-owner of the Magnet Theater, NYC alongside his improv mentor and legendary improv guru, Armando Diaz.
Sean came to NYC 20 years ago in the pursuit of a life in comedy. Thanks to the urging of Dartmouth classmate and improv teammate, Midy Khaling, Sean completely immersed himself in the world of improv comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade and Magnet Theaters, studying under Armando Diaz, Ed Herbstman, David Razowsky, Amy Pohler, Ian Roberts, Matt Besser, Tara Copeland, Jason Mantzoukas, and Adam Wade to name nine.
In time, the Magnet Theater became his home away from home where he performed weekly for a record twelve years with his house team, Junior Varsity, served as Webmaster, Director of Operations, Saturday Drop-In Instructor, and even met his wife!
When he's not working/playing at the Magnet Theater, Sean plays as much recreational softball as his schedule will allow, and blogs about (and consumes) pizza every day of October (aka National Pizza Month).
