WARNING up ahead, beautiful babies — TL;DR!
The glitter may have settled, but your gal Trudy is still floating several feet above 46th Street after The First Annual R.E.P. Award at Don't Tell Mama NYC, where I was beyond honored (and a little gobsmacked!) to take home both the Grand Prize and the Judge’s Choice Award!!
It was an absolute joy to be part of this first-ever celebration honoring the legacy of beloved cabaret star Rosemary “Roe” Elaine Piccoli, whose talent, spirit, and sparkle continue to inspire and shine on all of us in the cabaret universe.
ENORMOUS thanks to all the beautiful souls who came out to support the 10 FABULOUS Finalists, who put on a spectacular, sold-out show!
Special shoutouts to my darling Shane Taymor [aka Sean Taylor], superfan Ron Palais, and fellow former MNBA 2025 competitor, Lenore Stefanik! A massive round of applause to my stunning accompanist, Ian Herman, who was game for anything and everything I threw his way -- and never missed a beat (even when I suddenly slapped a blood pack across my chest for full dramatic special effect!).
All my GRATITUDE to cabaret powerhouse Tanya Moberly for her flawless direction, guidance, and tireless cheerleading - and to co-host, Roe’s sister, Lisa Hickey, for her abundant warmth and grace.
Many thanks to our wonderful judges, Scott Barbarino, Carolyn Montgomery, and Lisa Mullane Viggiano, for their insightful and spirited feedback!
And a show-stopping THANK YOU to the entire Don’t Tell Mama family — the ever-masterful Kelly Wohlford for keeping us all seen, heard, and bathed in our best light, and the always legendary Sidney Myer for not only giving us the stage for such a joyful and unforgettable afternoon, but then turning around and dazzling us all with his own signature talent! Bravo!!
Last, but certainly not least: a huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to Carl Sari for creating this loving and everlasting tribute to the love of his life, Roe, with the generous intention of providing a meaningful boost for cabaret artists like myself to flourish and grow.
